Secy Reveals Rs 17,000 cr Incentive Plan For Electrolyzers, Green Hydrogen
According to MNRE Secretary Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, the government has planned over Rs 17,000 crore in incentives to promote the manufacturing of electrolyzers and green hydrogen in the country.
The draught incentive scheme for electrolyzer manufacturing and a portion of the incentive scheme for green hydrogen production has been finalized and will be implemented soon.
According to Bhalla, the incentives will be provided through a scheme, the draught of which has already been prepared.
According to the official, the move will increase the demand for clean energy.
Green hydrogen is already being promoted by the government in collaboration with various ministries. According to Bhalla, the Ministry is also working on providing incentives for the manufacture of electrolyzers and the production of green hydrogen.
The MNRE Secretary said that “the draft of the incentive scheme for electrolyzer manufacturing and part of the incentive scheme for the production of green hydrogen have been finalized and will be rolled out soon. The total incentives being offered under the Hydrogen Mission are more than Rs 17,000 crore until the year 2030, which will be rolled out in tranches so that the government will learn from the first tranche and evolve the second one.”
The official also announced that the International Conference on Green Hydrogen will be held in New Delhi from July 5-7, 2023.
According to Ajay Yadav, Joint Secretary at MNRE, the three-day conference next month in Vigyan Bhawan will feature approximately 25 sessions.
The event will bring stakeholders together to discuss emerging technologies across the entire green hydrogen value chain. Around 1,500 delegates from India and abroad, including Japan, the United States, and the European Union, will attend India’s first hydrogen conference.
