IEEE and Transition VC have signed an agreement to start the Net Zero Warriors project

A special fund called Transition VC, which focuses on energy transition has joined forces with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) to start the Net Zero Warrior initiative. This project aims to support startups and help them come up with advanced technology solutions in different industries as they transition towards more sustainable practices.

On July 13, an MoU was signed in Bangalore by the two organizations.

To meet India’s needs for energy security, Net Zero Warriors aims to handle the twin issues of environmental protection and economic prosperity. By 2047, India’s economic growth will require a tripling of per capita primary energy consumption. Decarbonization is therefore essential in light of India’s aim to reach net zero emissions by 2070.

Four important stakeholders—engineering students, startups, the MSME industry, and the IEEE Standards Association—have an indicative path established by Transition VC and IEEE through Net Zero Warriors (IEEE SA). With specific, achievable commercialization goals, the program will raise awareness of deep-tech potential and inspire young engineers and entrepreneurs to take on a variety of creative problems.

Providing financial support, access to industry knowledge, and mentorship, will benefit entrepreneurs and creative solutions. Additionally, it will give existing engineering companies the opportunity to diversify their traditional product lines with opportunities in cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, robotics, blockchain, computational intelligence, and cognitive computing, among others.

The goal of Net Zero Warriors is to create a forum where all parties involved in India’s energy transition process may contribute to the creation of new norms and regulations and make important policy proposals.

The co-founder and general partner of Transition VC, Mustafa Wajid, stated in a statement, “There are numerous battles against climate change. Young engineers, professionals, academicians, startups, entrepreneurs, and investors are encouraged to take part in these struggles and produce significant value through the Net Zero Warriors program.

The project will make use of Transition VC’s expertise and capabilities in the energy transition as well as IEEE’s links with business, academia, and the worldwide engineering community.
