BYD India’s 4.1 million NEVs reduce CO2 emissions by 118 million kg on World Environment Day
BYD India, a subsidiary of the world’s leading manufacturer of New Energy Vehicles, BYD, is commemorating World Environment Day by celebrating its progress toward a more sustainable future. BYD had sold over 4.1 million new energy vehicles globally as of May 11, 2023, saving a total of 33,644,524,664 kg (33 billion) of carbon emissions.
BYD has been instrumental in reducing 118,046,879 kg (118 million) CO2 emissions in India alone through BYD electric passenger vehicles (EPV), BYD electric forklift, BYD electric trucks, and BYD electric buses powered by BYD’s battery, powertrain, and chassis technology.
BYD India has made significant contributions to reducing carbon emissions through electric mobility and advanced battery technologies for over 16 years.
BYD was the world’s first manufacturer to completely discontinue production of Internal Combustion Engine vehicles in 2022, and it built one of the world’s first zero-carbon headquarters by an automobile brand.
It is setting standards for the global transportation industry and low-carbon transformation manufacturers.
In the same year, BYD received ISO 14064 Certification and PAS 2060 Carbon Neutralization Certification while constructing one of the world’s first zero-carbon campuses.
BYD India’s current product line in its electric passenger vehicle (EPV) business features a variety of cutting-edge, eco-friendly vehicles designed specifically for the Indian market. The BYD ATTO 3 and the All-New e6 are among the key models.

The BYD ATTO 3 is India’s first sporty born electric vehicle. It is the first model in India to be born from the e-Platform 3.0, which is exclusively designed for the next generation of pure electric vehicles.
It features a deeply integrated Blade Battery, an 8-in-1 High-Efficiency Electric Powertrain, a Wide Temperature Range High-Efficiency Heat Pump System, and other core technologies.
The e-Platform 3.0 has the world’s first 8-in-1 electric powertrain (motor, motor controller, reducer, onboard charger, DC converter, high-voltage distribution box, vehicle controller, and BMS integrated into 1), which reduces overall size and weight by 20% and provides an overall efficiency of 89%.
The ATTO 3 offers a range of up to 521 km as tested by ARAI and 480 km as tested by NEDC, as well as fast charging capabilities that allow users to reach 80% battery capacity in just 30 minutes.
With its advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS Level 2), such as adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and automatic emergency braking, the BYD ATTO 3 prioritizes safety, ensuring a safe driving experience. BYD ATTO 3 produces zero emissions as a born electric vehicle, contributing to a cleaner and greener environment.
