Alstom awards INR 1.5 cr grant to 10 startups for developing green mobility solutions

Alstom India on Monday awarded a grant of INR 1.5 crore to ten startups that developed solutions in the areas of clean energy, shared mobility, and multi-modal solutions as part of its Sustainability Incubation Program.

The selected startups, which will be accelerated by NSRCEL-IIMB (NS Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning), will be able to use the grant to develop and deploy their solutions.

In line with Alstom India’s pledge made in 2022, the second cohort will begin in June 2023.

Olivier Loison, Managing Director, Alstom India, said, “Our contribution to sustainability is closely tied to the business we are in, which also makes it critical for us to take the lead in building and supporting the ecosystem we operate in. While we are bringing our vision of sustainable mobility to life through our business, we have also committed to making active social investments to nurture startups who share our vision. On that note, it is heartening to see incredible work done by the selected startups and it has been a delight to partner with NSRCEL-IIMB, given their body of work in innovation, technology, and sustainable mobility”.

To accelerate the journeys of these ventures, the incubation program itself has brought together a slew of partners from research and engineering, policy, and market access. The incubation program will help sharpen the business and technology roadmaps of each venture to put them on a path to scale through a combination of capacity and capability building, exposure to complementary partnerships, and funding.

Anand Sri Ganesh, COO of NSRCEL at IIM Bangalore, said, “The climate and sustainability spaces are still emerging. Knowledge networks, business models, funding, policy environment – all of these are still weakly defined. Yet we are staring at a crisis in climate change. At NSRCEL we are committed to injecting innovation to solve these priorities at scale, through the lens of entrepreneurship. Alstom’s commitment to the sector, and in supporting entrepreneurial innovation is an inspiration for other leading corporates to join the cause.”
